Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat DPPSPP dan Kuliah Kerja Nyata Mahasiswa FKH UB Tahun 2024 | Edukasi Manajemen Peternakan kepada Kelompok Tani Rukun Amanah PT. KTHR Indonesia

The Community Service (PkM) programme funded through the DPPSPP FKH UB 2024 scheme was carried out by Drh. Herlina Pratiwi, M.Si., a supervising lecturer for the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine students at Universitas Brawijaya (FKH UB) during their Field Work Course (KKN). This programme was implemented in the even semester of the 2024/2025 academic year at PT KTHR Indonesia, located in Sukodadi Village, Wagir Subdistrict, Malang Regency. PT KTHR Indonesia is a business unit managing sheep, cattle, and goats owned by members of the Rukun Amanah People’s Forest Livestock Farmer Group (KTHR).

KTHR Rukun Amanah is a community-based professional organisation operating within a regional scope, formed based on shared activities, interests, and functions in the development of community forests. The KTHR Rukun Amanah community comprises members not only from Jamuran Hamlet, Sukodadi Village, Wagir Subdistrict, but also from outside Wagir Subdistrict, including a variety of professions such as farmers, traders, contractors, academics, and more.

Aligned with PT KTHR Indonesia’s goal of becoming a cooperative farming model and a hub for information, livestock farming, and education about animal husbandry, the KKN DPP/SPP team, under the guidance of Drh. Herlina Pratiwi, M.Si., conducted educational activities for the KTHR Rukun Amanah Farmer Group and employees of PT KTHR Indonesia.

The education provided to the KTHR Rukun Amanah Farmer Group included socialisation, training, and practical sessions on livestock management at PT KTHR Indonesia. The education covered barn management, feed management, and livestock waste management. The socialisation and training were conducted in three different stages.

The first stage took place on 30 June 2024, focusing on barn management to reduce scabies in sheep and feed management, including training on the production of herbal probiotics to increase livestock body weight. The second stage was held on 1 July 2024, with practical sessions for PT KTHR employees on barn management, including the creation of fly traps and natural insecticides from papaya leaf extract to repel flies in cattle. The third stage of socialisation took place on 2 July 2024, discussing feed management with training on making turmeric herbal medicine as an immunomodulator for preventing Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and waste management, including processing sheep urine into liquid fertiliser.

Overall, the activities proceeded smoothly and left a positive impression on the KTHR Rukun Amanah Farmer Group and PT KTHR Indonesia. It is hoped that the programme will benefit the KTHR Rukun Amanah Farmer Group by enhancing their knowledge, which can then be implemented in their farming practices. Additionally, it is anticipated that this programme will also be beneficial for the partner, PT KTHR Indonesia.
