On December 4, 2024, the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) Universitas Brawijaya, in collaboration with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science (FPIK), successfully organized an international webinar titled “Enhancing Aquatic Animal Health and Ecosystem Sustainability through One Health Collaboration.”
The webinar, chaired by Dr. drh. Dahliatul Qosimah, MKes, was part of the Grant for the Initiation of International Scientific Association Activities by Universitas Brawijaya, with the theme “Multilateral Cooperation to Enhance Fish Health and Aquatic Ecosystem Sustainability.” This event also introduced a new international scientific association and promoted the launch of FVM UB’s new journal, the Journal of Aquatic System and Health.
The event was officially opened by drh. Dyah Ayu Oktavianie A.P., M.Biotech, Dean of FVM UB, and Prof. Dr. Ir. Maftuch, M.Si, Dean of FPIK UB. It featured four prominent speakers:
- Prof. Marina Binti Hassan (Universiti Malaysia Terengganu) – Expert in Fish Parasitology and Pathology
- Abdul Aziz Jaziri, S.Pi., M.Sc (Universitas Brawijaya) – Expert in Molecular Microbiology and Food Science
- Dr. Ir. Erni Johan Matsue (Ehime University, Japan) – Expert in Sustainable Water Treatment Technologies
- Dr. Moh. Awaludin Adam (National Research and Innovation Agency, BRIN) – Expert in Ecotoxicology and Marine Biotechnology
The webinar attracted 270 participants from six countries, including Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Japan, Vietnam, and Nigeria. It provided a platform for researchers, academics, private sector representatives, and government officials to discuss innovative solutions, share knowledge, and contribute as editors, reviewers, or authors for the Journal of Aquatic System and Health.
This webinar represents a significant milestone in fostering international collaboration to address global challenges in aquatic health and ecosystem sustainability. Thank you to all speakers, participants, and organizers for making this event a success!
