Biography

Dr. Nofan Rickyawan, M.Sc., is a veterinarian who graduated from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Gadjah Mada University in 2009. He is known as an experienced practitioner in handling small and exotic animals and serves as a lecturer at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Brawijaya University, specializing in surgery and radiology. With over five years of experience working at Taman Safari Indonesia, Dr. Nofan has honed his skills in treating a wide range of animals, including expertise in diagnosing and managing various health conditions and understanding the unique characteristics of exotic and wild animals. In addition to his clinical and academic work, Dr. Nofan actively participates in various *Continuing Professional Development* (CPD) activities. He continuously updates his knowledge, stays informed about the latest advancements in veterinary medicine, and engages with other professionals to exchange insights and experiences. His expertise has made him a recognized speaker in various CPD events for veterinarians in Indonesia, contributing significantly to the development of the profession. Dr. Nofan’s research focuses on surgery and radiology, particularly in comparing anesthesia across different animal species. By considering the biological and physiological differences among species, his research aims to provide practical guidelines for veterinarians in selecting and administering appropriate anesthetic agents. He also explores alternative medicine, particularly herbal remedies, to support post-operative recovery. His research examines the potential of herbal formulations to reduce inflammation, accelerate wound healing, and minimize dependence on pharmaceutical drugs that may be less accessible or have adverse side effects. His research always emphasizes practical applications, considering factors such as availability, cost, and feasibility in clinical settings that may have limited resources. In his community service efforts, Dr. Nofan Rickyawan is committed to raising public awareness about the crucial role of veterinarians in maintaining animal health and welfare. He is also a strong advocate for wildlife conservation efforts in Indonesia, participating in various educational programs to increase public awareness about the importance of protecting wildlife and their habitats from extinction and environmental degradation.
