On 18 June 2024, coinciding with the celebration of Eid al-Adha, the Thematic Community Service Program of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, conducted an event titled “Education on the Health of Sacrificial Animals and Sacrificial Meat at SDIT and SMPIT Insantama in Malang City.” The aim of this activity was to enhance the knowledge of primary and secondary school students about the health of sacrificial animals and meat to ensure that the animals to be sacrificed are healthy, comply with religious requirements, and that the distributed meat adheres to ASUH principles (Safe, Healthy, Whole, and Halal).
The socialisation activity, led by Drh. Nofan Rickyawan, M.Sc., targeted all students of SDIT Insantama and SMPIT, totalling 146 participants. The event began with a presentation delivered by students of the 2024 KKN DPP SPP FKH UB programme on the health of sacrificial animals and meat. The presentation used PowerPoint as a medium and was followed by a discussion and Q&A session, where participants were encouraged to ask questions about the topics covered. The students were enthusiastic and actively participated in the Q&A session. The event continued with an observation of organs from a slaughtered cow. During this session, participants were introduced to organs such as the lungs, kidneys, spleen, and heart. Additionally, they were taught the post-mortem examination procedures, including inspection, palpation, and incision of the organs.

Based on the pre-test and post-test results taken by all participants of the socialisation activity, it can be concluded that the participants’ knowledge increased by 31% from the pre-test to the post-test. Therefore, this socialisation activity is considered successful in achieving its goal of enhancing primary school students’ knowledge about the health of sacrificial animals and meat. It is hoped that this activity will benefit all participants and that this collaboration can continue in the future.
