Biography
Ajeng Erika Prihastuti Haskito, DVM., M.Si., was born in Surabaya on May 16, 1989. She completed her veterinary doctor and master’s degree in Veterinary Disease and Public Health at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga. In 2014, she joined the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Brawijaya, Malang, as a lecturer in the Veterinary Public Health Laboratory. She teaches courses in Public Health and One Health, Food Hygiene, Zoonoses, Veterinary Legislation, Animal-Origin Food Quality Assurance, Biotechnology of Animal-Origin Food Products, and Veterinary Epidemiology and Economics. Since 2014, she has been researching Functional Food Yoghurt as an antioxidant source for health benefits. Her research outputs include goat milk yoghurt, white rice bran yoghurt, red rice bran yoghurt, black rice bran yoghurt, and purple rosella yoghurt, all of which have been registered for simple patents. The black rice bran yoghurt has been granted a simple patent. She is currently developing yoghurt lozenges. In addition to her research on Functional Food Yoghurt, she also studies the Quality and Safety of Animal-Origin Food Products and the impact of Dioxins on health. The scientific knowledge and technology derived from her research are regularly disseminated through community service activities, particularly in Kepuharjo Village, Karangploso District, Malang Regency. Her initiatives include household-scale yoghurt production training, education on food quality and safety for members of the Kepuharjo Village Dharma Wanita group, and introducing the veterinary world through thematic books to students in Kepuharjo Village schools.
