Malang, 18 February 2025 – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) at Universitas Brawijaya (UB) is set to undergo an international accreditation visitation by the Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics, Natural Sciences, and Mathematics (ASIIN) on 19-20 February 2025. This event marks a significant step in FKH UB’s efforts to attain international recognition for its academic quality.

The visitation will involve a panel of experts from ASIIN, including:

  1. Johann Jakob Winter, M.Sc. – Project Manager ASIIN
  2. Prof. Dr. med. vet. Hans Tillmann Rümenapf – Institute of Virology, Department of Pathobiology, University of Veterinary Medicine, Vienna, Austria
  3. Prof. Dr. Bernhard Hiebl – University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover
  4. Sugiyono, DVM, M.Vet. – PT Tekad Mandiri Citra
  5. Nadia Wacimin – Student at Universitas Gadjah Mada

The agenda includes a comprehensive evaluation of various academic aspects, such as the curriculum, laboratory facilities, teaching quality, and the relevance of study programmes to industry demands.

The visitation will commence on Wednesday, 19 February 2025, with an initial meeting between the ASIIN panel and UB’s management. This will be followed by a tour of the facilities, including laboratory inspections and assessments of other supporting infrastructure. The ASIIN team will also engage in discussions with lecturers, students, alumni, and industry partners to gain a holistic understanding of the education quality at FKH UB.

On the second day, Thursday, 20 February 2025, the visitation will continue with meetings involving students and alumni from various academic programmes. Additionally, an evaluation of academic documents and a discussion with industry partners will take place to assess how well the study programmes align with professional requirements in the veterinary field.

The Dean of FKH UB, Drh. Dyah Ayu Oktavianie AP., M.Biotech., APVet., emphasised that this initiative is part of the faculty’s commitment to enhancing educational quality and achieving international accreditation standards. She stated, “We hope this visitation will yield positive results and serve as a significant step forward for FKH UB in gaining global recognition.”

With ASIIN accreditation, FKH UB aims to further strengthen its reputation as a leading institution in veterinary education, both nationally and internationally.
